Basic principle
The baroceptor whiteboard is comprised of multilayer film, including horizontal resistive film, insulated gridding, conducting film, vertical resistive film, etc.. This multilayer film has the same size with available area. The working principle is just as described below: To put a fixed voltage on the resistive film, and the conducting film will keep clear of the resistive film without any outside force. So no voltage would be measured, nor did position information get. When something presses on the resistive film, the current would be passed through conducting film and voltage measured by the test circuit. This voltage is corresponded with the position of whiteboard. Through the voltage tested vertically and horizontally, the exact position is calculated and decided.

2. Unnecessary for special pen. Any nontransparent thing is available to operate on the whiteboard, such as your finger, pointer etc.
